About

Hi there - I’m Vanessa Francis. This is where I list qualifications and make a case for myself, but what follows is really a life story. The path that led me here has been shaped more by experience and curiosity than convention.

I was born in 1969 and raised in the south of England. In 1990, while living in North London, I had my first astrological reading. It stayed with me. Over the next decade I completed a degree in Music with Drama, immersed myself in singing and Tarot, and worked administrative jobs to support myself. After a deep depression in my late teens and early twenties, I searched for meaning through creative expression, esoteric philosophy, embodiment, and the natural world. Opera captivated me, astrology ran a close second, but neither offered a clear living.

In my late twenties, I experienced a change in financial circumstance, which allowed me to follow what genuinely interested me. I studied at the European School of Osteopathy in Kent, where I developed a lasting respect for the intelligence of the body. From there, I was led into yoga, meditation, and voice work with Susan Dash.

In 2000, I moved to the United States to study with Susan. Intending to work with her for three months. I stayed for more than a decade. Years of daily vocal training and body based work taught me how deeply our history lives in the body and how change unfolds best with patience and skill.

By my mid thirties I was married and building a life in the United States. I discovered Human Design in 2001 and studied as deeply as I could while teaching yoga and trying to bridge my mystical nature with practical necessity. My forties brought entrepreneurship through a small yoga studio, formal Human Design training, and later BG5, where I became increasingly interested in practical application.

Toward the end of my forties my marriage ended amicably, and I bought and began renovating a large Victorian house in New Jersey, hoping to create stability through rental income. The renovation tested me. I lost money to a contractor, navigated job changes, lived through Covid, and faced a prolonged dispute with a tenant. It was exhausting and at times overwhelming.

Then, in early 2024, I found a lump in my breast. By spring I was diagnosed with cancer. Moving through that experience demanded resilience and clarified something essential about support, friendship, and being understood. The last few years have forced me to reimagine my life in a way that honors my essential nature.

Astrology and Human Design have not shielded me from difficulty, but they have helped me meet it with greater perspective and self understanding. We are all complex and contradictory, capable of both struggle and grace. I have come to see all of it as part of being human.
